ABOUT

Why

I Buy Local And Shop in Town – Supporting Local Merchants is a great way to help keep up the character of our unique downtown district. More dollars spent locally means our merchants can continue to grow their business and provide the goods and services our residents need. The $20 investment for the Card pays for it-self over and over again.

Who

iBlast was started in 2009 by two local residents Barbara Davis and Carolyn Williams. Barbara and Carolyn saw a need to encourage New Canaan Residents to spend their dollars within 06840 This “Buy Local” program was designed to support our local merchants and ultimately the very character of our town in the face of a very difficult economy. Four years later iBlast is thriving! With over 100 local business offering special “deals” for over 2,000 active card holders iBlast has become synonymous with shopping in New Canaan.

At the end of 2009 Barbara and Carolyn decided that the natural home for iBlast would be the Chamber of Commerce so as of January 1st 2012 iBlast moved to 91 Elm Street. Laura Budd laura@newcanaanchamber.com was hired by the Chamber to handle the day to day operations.

iBlast is “Powered By” our Sponsors and Supporters. During 2013, the Bank of New Canaan, Walter Stewart’s Market, Nurenu Brand Marketing and The New Canaan Advertiser are providing the Financial and Marketing Support to make iBlast a viable business operation.

We also rely on a cadre of Supporters. Karl Chevrolet, L’Armoire, Harrigan Insurance, Weed & Duryea, The SiggTeam, Village Critter Outfitter and Joe’s Pizza realize how important this Shop Local Effort is to New Canaan’s economy and have stepped in to help underwrite the program
